Having your own blog is great for so many reasons! But still, I’m sure a lot of people don’t know what they can earn from this. This post is for them, but it’s also for you if you’re already a blogger and you’re not aware of all the benefits you can get from it. 😉
So here is why you should start your own blog today!
1. Easy & Fun
Maybe blogging sounds scary so that’s why a lot of people don’t do it – or they start and they abandon it after a couple of weeks. But it’s actually very easy. There’s not a specific way to do it. You just write about what you think.
Most people use social media to write their opinions but they believe it’s hard to start your own blog. I blame it on the fear of the unknown.
And blogging is fun! You can blog about whatever you want; a hobby you like, something you’re interested in or something you just started and you want to record your progress. If you have something you love, why not write about it? It’s free and the time you spend writing your posts is time you spend talking about something you love. What’s better than this, huh?
2. Meeting New People
Believe me, no matter how good or bad your situation is right now, no matter how weird you think your interests are, there are people all around the world that think the same way, that they want the same things.
So how amazing it is to find acceptance from people who understand exactly what you’re going through? And with no judging from their side. You know why? Because they have gone through it themselves!
Blogging gives you the chance to meet people with similar interests and talk with them about these. Nothing better than having people to talk about your passion! 😉
3. Promoting Your Work
Blogging is also a great way to promote your work. If you’re a writer, an artist, a photographer, a designer or even a plumber, you can benefit from blogging. No matter what you work at, you can promote it through your blog.
It’s also a cool way to let your fans/customers/audience communicate with you. You’re going to be a lot closer to them than if they have to send a mail to get an answer to a simple question. Plus, you can share with them updates on your ongoing projects. Or ask their opinions about current or future projects and interact with them directly and – the most important – fast.
Plus, when someone asks for your work, you have something to show for it. Something that looks professional because it’s out there for the whole world to see. Moreover, you can grow your blog into your own business. Yes, you can make it into a business. It’ll take time, but you can definitely do it if you don’t give up!
4. Helping Others
As I said above, there are a lot of people who are exactly – or almost exactly – in the same situation you’re in. So letting them know how you solved your problems, how you dealt with your fears helps them. Either by finding a solution or by finding the courage to deal with their issues.
Wouldn’t you wish to have someone to guide you? To give you advice when you don’t have anyone who has gone through what you’re going through now? I’d say yes. Then why not be this person for thousands of others? Why not help them if you can?
You don’t have to be perfect to give some solid advice. You just have to understand the problem and want to help. Not so hard, right?
5. Make It Into A Business
A lot of people don’t know that but you can make money by blogging. It takes a decent amount of time, but I believe it’s worth it.
Just think of the benefits:
- You can work from anywhere. Maybe from your home or from a beach on the other side of the world. Well, you do need an internet connection, but my point stands!
- You have your own business. You don’t have to live on a salary. That means that financially, the sky’s the limit!
- You’re the boss. You won’t have anyone to tell you what to do and when to work. You can work any time you want and any way you want.
6. Improve Your Skills
Blogging involves TONS of writing. Any guess how good is this for improving your writing skills?
And not only your writing skills. You can communicate better, talk more easily to other people and learn how to focus effectively. Not bad, huh?
7. And What If You Fail?
Well, if you failed, you failed. It’s no big deal. Not the first time, not the last… 😉
How I Started
First time I made a blog was while I was in high school as part of a project. I did it and kept it for a while with a friend of mine. We chose dancing as the main topic and we were writing about it. And we loved it! Unfortunately, we let it go at the end of the school year.
Next time, it was while my friends and I were shooting a short movie – don’t ask…
A few years ago though, I read about Wealthy Affiliate and I thought to try it out. To try and make blogging a full-time job. For all of the reasons I wrote above and then some. 🙂
And guess what? It actually works, so yeah, if you think blogging is for you, just try it out. After all, what do you have to lose?
These are the reasons I believe everyone should start blogging. It has a lot of benefits, and the only real disadvantage is you may get bored and give up.
Well, at least you know you tried, right? So start your blog now!
Let me know if you think anything that should be on this list and, if you have any questions, I’d be happy to answer! Any suggestions are always welcome, so tell me about topics you’d like me to write.
