Time for December blog post ideas?
Great! I have to say, December is one of my favourite months – probably because Christmas is in December and it’s my favourite holiday. I like it so much that I’m incredibly excited right now – just because I’m writing about it. 😛 Though, the weather helps, too. It’s sunny, and I’m in a great place with A/C and a great view.
Ok, I’m babbling now. You don’t really care about that stuff, right? So I won’t keep you waiting any longer.
Let’s start!
1. Why You Love Winter
So many things to write about it! I would definitely start with Christmas, but there are more reasons:
- New Year – New beginnings
- Holidays – You get a few days off.
- Gifts – So many gifts to receive, but also to give!
- Snow – Well, if you live somewhere that snows.
- Blanket Snuggling – You can’t usually do that in summer, so you have to take advantage of winter.
2. Winter Decorations
December is probably the only month of the year when almost everyone redecorates their house. Mostly because of Christmas.
Find a few awesome decoration ideas for winter or, especially, for Christmas. Could be DIY crafts or things you can buy. Could be traditional, could be modern.
Make a list of the best ones and share it with your readers.
3. Winter Trends
Write about the top winter trends in your industry. What changed in your field this winter? How does winter affect your niche, in general?
4. Your Top 10 Favourite Winter Pastimes
Reading would definitely be on the top of my list. It’s great in every season, but it’s even better in winter. It’s cold outside and you’re under a blanket in a cosy corner at home… 🙂
5. International Volunteer Day
December 5th is International Volunteer Day.
You can blog about how someone can become a volunteer, sites to find volunteer opportunities, NGOs & charities you recommend, etc.
And if you’re a volunteer, talk about how volunteering changed your life, your experience as a volunteer and why you like volunteering.
6. Indoor Workout Routines
One of the disadvantages of winter is that it’s not that easy to exercise outdoors. So how about writing a few indoor workout routines?
7. Christmas Songs
What are your favourite Christmas Songs? Make a list of them and talk about why you like them and how they affect you.
For example, when I listen to “All I want for Christmas“, I tend to sing – at least if I’m alone. 😛
8. Snow Day Activities
What can you do when it’s snowing?
- Write about activities you can do outside: ski, making a snowman, snowboard, snow fight, etc.
- Write about activities you can do inside: reading, board games, movie nights, pyjama parties, theme parties, etc.
9. How This Year Was For You
2019 is almost over. How did this year change you?
Write about what you’ve learned and what you’re happy to leave behind. Talk about the good and the bad.
10. Human Rights Day
December 10th is Human Rights Day. Write about it.
Why are human rights important? What’s the story behind them?
11. International Mountain Day
So many international days early on. That’s the third I’ve written in only the first 11. And there’s one more to go!
Did you know there’s an International Mountain Day? I had no clue! Go for a trip to a mountain to celebrate this and write all about it.
12. What To Do When You’re Bored In Winter
Staying indoors for a long time can drive you crazy. Or at least bored. And I don’t know what’s worse. At least when you’re crazy, you have fun!
So what can you do when you’re bored in winter?
13. What To Do Before The End Of 2019
Most people set some goals at the beginning of every year. But they accomplish all of them very rarely. Now it’s time to go back and see what you haven’t done yet.
- Which of these goals can you do now? Create an action plan and go after them!
- Do you have any other things you want to do or even just try before 2020 comes? Now’s the time!
14. World Energy Conservation Day
December 14th is World Energy Conservation Day. How about talking about it and encourage everyone to use less energy today?
15. Cool Christmas Traditions Around The World
How do people celebrate Christmas in different places? Write about different cultures and countries.
16. Christmas Movies
What are your favourite Christmas movies? Do you plan to rewatch them this year?
What? You’re not going to watch Home Alone again? 23rd is the charm!
17. How To Organise A Secret Santa
Write a post on how to organise this the right way. I know two versions of this game.
- In the first one, you get a name and then you buy the present.
- In the second, you get the present and then each person chooses a gift randomly.
Which one do you like more and how can someone plan this in their party the right way? It seems easy, but there’s a lot that could go wrong. So a few things you can do are:
- Set a limit on how much someone can spend on the gift so that people receive presents of similar value.
- Inform people if there will be people of different genders/ages/cultures, etc. This way, gifts will be more generic, so there’s a better chance of everyone leaving happy. For example, last Christmas, my friend – let’s call her Emily – planned a Secret Santa and we didn’t know she invited her boyfriend’s friends, too. So another friend of mine bought a fluffy white pillow.
The result? One of Emily’s boyfriend’s friends got a fluffy white pillow with gold stars from Santa! 😛
You can use this Secret Santa Organiser if you want to do the first version.
18. How To Save Money On Your Christmas Shopping
Do you know any good tips on how to buy presents on a tight budget?
Well, what are you waiting for? Tell us all about it!
19. What Happened In Your Industry
What funny/awesome/terrible things happened this year in your niche? Make a list!
20. 10 Goals For This Winter
Set 10 goals you want to be accomplished by the end of winter. Why did you choose these goals? How do you plan to make them true?
21. Winter Solstice
December 21st (or 22nd – depending on where you live) is the longest night of the year. How will you celebrate it? Do you know any cool events that happen at this night?
22. Christmas Recipes
Do you know any good recipes for Christmas? Share them with the world! If you can make videos of you cooking, so much the better!
23. Christmas Gift Ideas
We have so many people to buy gifts for. Parents, siblings, friends, significant others, coworkers… Ok, we probably don’t get gifts to all of them, but my point is that it’s difficult to find gifts sometimes.
Make a list with gift ideas for Christmas. You can make lists for different relationships and they can be industry-related or not. If your blog is about singing, you can make a list of gift ideas for singers. For example, I have made a list of gift ideas for bloggers and another list with gifts for writers.
24. Christmas Crafts
What do you think about Christmas DIY projects? Would you like to make your own tree ornaments? Or maybe your Christmas cards?
If yes, make them. And of course, tell us or even better show us how you did it!
25. Dream Christmas Destinations
Where would you love to spend the Christmas this year?
Make a list with the top 10 places in the world that anyone would love to spend Christmas. They could be either a country or a specific place.
26. Why You Love Christmas
Why would someone love Christmas?
- Is it the Christmas spirit?
- The gifts?
- The holidays?
- The tree?
- The songs?
- The snow?
- The food?
I think I can keep going forever! 😛
27. Capture The Christmas Spirit In A Photo
Show the Christmas spirit in photos. You can take photos of your family, the snow or anything else you’ve written in the previous post.
Ιnstead of telling people, just show to them what Christmas means to you.
28. Best Posts Of The Year
Make a Top 10 list of the best posts you’ve read this year. Some of them could be yours, some of them could be others’. Or you can make two lists; one for your posts and one for other bloggers’ posts.
- Why do you like these posts?
- Why do you recommend others to read them?
29. End Of Year: Think Again Your Life Goals
The end of the year is close. Now’s the time to think back and see what went right and what went wrong this year.
Write about it. What are the goals you’ve achieved and which you haven’t yet? Do you plan to pursue them next year? Or do you believe that are probably not that important if you haven’t pursued them enough this year?
30. How To Set Goals For 2020
Write a post on how to set goals and actively pursue them in 2020.
What kind of goals should people set? How specific should they be? How easy is it to reach them and how can they do it effectively?
This video has a good tip on goal setting:
31. How To Dress For Cold
Winter is a great season, but it’s a cold one. Find ways someone can use to dress effectively for winter and share them.
32. Tasty Hot Beverages
Tea, chocolate? Or something else? What is your favourite go-to drink in winter?
Write about tasty hot beverages in winter and how we can make them. You can also search for recipes you don’t know about and write them too – after you try them out, of course!
33. Favourite Christmas Memories As A Child
What are your favourite memories as a child on Christmas? Family moments, things you’ve done with friends, etc.
34. Winter Date Night Ideas
How do you believe a winter date should be? Write about ideas on how couples can spend a night out or how to spend Christmas.
35. Make Your Favourite Christmas Recipe
And blog about it step-by-step. You can even make a video of it!
36. How To Create A Calendar
Instead of buying a calendar, make one this year and write about how everyone can make one, too.
What’s awesome with making your own calendar is that you can do it EXACTLY how you want it. You leave how much space you want so you can write everything you want, you have extra columns for things you want to write, etc.
For example, here is my calendar/planner for the rest of 2019. Feel free to download it if you want! I’ll update it for 2020 when it’s time.
37. Winter Riddle
- Give a riddle to your readers for the winter.
- At the end of the season, reveal the answer.
- Ask your readers to send you the answer and the first who finds it, they’ll get a reward.
- Choose a reward that’s useful to people in your industry.
38. Things You Can’t Live Without In Winter
What are the top 10 things you can’t live without in winter?
For me, #1 should definitely be a scarf and hot chocolate. And yes, I’d have both as #1. 😛
Because I can! It’s my list, after all.
39. Winter Morning/Evening Routine
What do you do in an average winter day? Write about it.
A lot of people have difficulty in finding a routine that works for them. Your readers may get inspired by you and adopt your routine. Or they may have or come up with a better routine and tell you about it.
40. How To Host A New Year’s Eve Party
Do you know any good tips on how to host a New Year’s Eve party? Share them with the world!
It’s pretty hard to organise an event – especially if you haven’t done it before. Even if it’s just a réveillon at home with close friends.
41. How To Volunteer/Help Others
Talk about ways we can help other people these days.
There are many charities that organise Christmas events. Not only people can have fun there, but they can also help others. Either by donating money or by volunteering.
42. How To Stay Productive During The Holidays
It’s so difficult to focus these days. A lot of invitations, a lot of obligations. We keep going from one place to another and before we know it, two weeks have passed and we haven’t done anything productive.
So share your best tips on staying productive during the holidays.
43. Christmas Events & Festivals
What events happen these days around the world?
Find the most interesting ones and write about them. How did they begin? What interesting happens at them?
44. Stocking Stuff Ideas
Talk about unique gifts to put into stockings. People with young kids around them would love some inspiration!
45. How To Go On Vacation On A Tight Budget
Since a lot of people go on vacation these days, prices tend to go up. Do you know any good ways to celebrate somewhere without spending an arm and a leg?
Write about them!
46. Why Travelling In Winter Is A Good Idea
There are places that are more beautiful in winter. And there are places that it’s too hot to visit in summer.
Write about them and encourage people to go to these places in winter. What special happens there in winter that makes your going worthwhile?
47. Movies To Look Forward To This Winter
What movies come out this winter? Write about the ones you’re waiting for.
Why do you like them? Describe the plot and ask your readers if they’re going to watch them, too.
48. Christmas Challenge
Make a Christmas/New Year Challenge based on your niche. I’m sure your readers will love it!
49. Winter Holidays And How To Make The Most Of Them
You can write a lot of things here and you can combine a lot from the previous ideas – if you can’t make a full post out of them:
- Places to visit
- Movies to watch
- Events to attend
- How to be productive
- How to spend quality time with your family
- Date ideas
- How to plan a movie night
- Recipes to try
50. How To Spend An Inspirational New Year’s Day
What can you do in New Year’s Day that will help you have an awesome 2020?
- Set new goals?
- Volunteer?
- Talk with a friend?
- Start something you’re excited about?
